Welcome to robholmes.net, my name is Rob Holmes, I live in the beautiful countryside near Winchester, Hampshire, UK. I'm a hugely passionate freelance programmer and developer of web and mobile applications.
I have been programming for over 12 years and have a National Diploma in Software Engineering, so my experience is vast using the various languages I have used over the years, including among others, Java, PHP, C++. As a programmer there is nothing I can't do... apart from change the world, which hasn't released it's source code yet!
I now specialise in building high quality Google Android apps. I have been learning and developing apps using Android since Google launched the mobile operating system in late 2007. Google has created an extremely powerful platform with which to build even more powerful apps.
I have a great passion for creating excellent apps for Android, utilising Google's best practices and development guidelines. By creating apps in this way and using the Android UI components, my apps will look and behave identically across all handsets and tablets.
You can find some examples of my Android apps in the portfolio of android apps section of this site.
My web development expertise lies within PHP (Object-Oriented), Symfony PHP framework and Magento (eCommerce platform). I have built a large amount of websites, starting from small personal sites, up to large multi-million pound ecommerce websites.
I'm always keeping up to date with the latest web technologies and standards. I'm a firm believer in using the best available technologies that enable me to make great websites and web applications. Symfony is the perfect framework for developing web applications quickly, easily and securely. I have used Symfony in a wide variety of projects and even robholmes.net is built with Symfony.
You can find some examples of websites I have built in the portfolio of websites section of this site.
